At Home in The Lot Valley Region
Cahors is the préfecture (county town) of the Lot department. It is an important wine growing area and is famous for its architecture. Places of particular interest include the Century Valentré Bridge, built in the 14th century to defend the west of the town, the 12 th century Romanesque Saint-Etienne Cathedral.
Other important archaeological and geological sites of interest in the area are the prehistoric caves of Cougnac, the Paleolithic temple-cave of Pech-Merle at Cabrerets and the spectacular 100m metre deep Padirac Cave in the heart of the Causse de Gramat.
Finally there are the beautiful towns of Souillac, with it's 12 century Romanesque church, and the town of Figeac with its historical old town and market, the Church of Saint-Saveur, the Church of Notre-Dame-du-Puy, and the Aiguilles; two stone monumental obelisks overlooking the town. These are just a few examples of what the Lot region has to offer, but along with the many other leisure activities available to suit all tastes, they make the Lot valley one of the most desirable locations for potential home buyers, and our worry-free, personal property finding service provides complete peace of mind for buyers who want to live or have a home in France, but are unfamiliar with the procedures.
